The U.S. Olympic Men's Hockey Team lost to Slovakia as they go 0-5 in a shootout. This ends their chances for a medal. They last won a medal in 2010 when they won a silver medal in Vancouver. The last time they won a gold medal was after the "Miracle on Ice" game in 1980 in Lake Placid.
As in their previous two games, the U.S. team allowed the first goal. They then rallied to take a 2-1 lead into the final minute. Slovakia then scored with 44 seconds left in regulation. Neither team scored in an overtime period which led to the shootout.
